Fox ad. Dig that 70's cartoon artwork. Hey,
not bad prize money for any era!
Another early Fox ad. A Who's Who of surfers and
skaters.

OK, you're in an ad with Torger Johnson,
Tony Alva, and Brad Logan...hey, if there is ever a skateboard hall of fame
this alone just qualified you.
Remember
these two logos? I do, these were created from the picture of Bruce at
Carlsbad (see the Profile page).
From a 1978 issue of Skateboarder focusing on Quivers of
the pros. Here Bruce show his tools of the trade. (Click on it to
enlarge and read.)
Various ads for three of Bruce's top team
riders, Mark Lake, Shawn Peddie, and Jim McCall.

Mark Lake advertisement, probably the most successful
single Walker deck of all time. Dig that funky Freudian shape.

Shawn Peddie advertisement. Check out Shawn's home
made rails out of PVC pipe! I believe these pics were from the Walker
team's California tour in the late 70's.

Jim McCall advertisement. Probably Bruce's longest
all time team member. Be sure to read Jim's quote in the Profile section,
it's "all time".
Bruce coached the USA National Surf Team to
(2) World Team Titles, one in 1986 in England and again in 1996 in California.
This image is from the 1996 World Surfing Games and is the first trophy in the
history of surfing that bears the official Olympic Logo.
A More modern Ocean Avenue logo. Still notice the
Hurricane symbol hasn't left the logo (right on!). For those of you non
Floridians this may not be a familiar symbol. Most rational people
associate this image with fear and flee, to Florida surfers this symbol means
waves coming, the biggest and sometimes best we get here in Florida. A
mark of excitement, fun, and thrills of coming surf.
I had to post these pics, being a musician
myself I thought these were really cool. Joseph Kane sent these in.
This is "The Bluse Crew" band, from 1968. Bruce and his older
brother Phil (on guitar), played in this band. Bruce was taking a break
from drumming during these photos but is shown seated with his back to us on the
steps. Note the skateboard on the ground! Chris Kane on keyboards;
Joe Kane (wearing a Hobie t shirt) playing Bruce's sparkle Ludwig drum
set. George Webb on Bass. They played Byrds, Cream, Hendrix, Doors,
etc. This may very well be the FIRST skate band!
